Lyric

Have you ever wished there were a hearing aid you could leave in place 24/7? One that did not require removal before you showered, or exercised, or went to bed? Believe it or not, such a device does exist. Lyric is an extended-wear hearing aid is worn continuously for up to four months. Lyric is completely hassle-free: there are no batteries to replace, and it does not require cleaning or maintenance.

Lyric is sold on a subscription basis; patients typically “buy” it for a year at a time. A Lyric-trained audiologist inserts it during a simple in-office procedure that only takes a few minutes. Because it is placed deep in the ear canal about 4 millimeters from the eardrum, nobody will even know you are wearing a hearing aid.

Taking advantage of the natural anatomy of the ear, Lyric funnels sound waves directly to the implanted device, where they are amplified and transmitted to the eardrum. This gives the patient an excellent sense of where sounds are coming from, as well as clear and natural sound that is free of feedback and distortion. Lyric is kept in place with foam seals that fit snugly around the contours of the ear canal for a precise, comfortable fit. A special coating helps protect it from moisture and earwax. The majority of Lyric users rate both comfort and sound quality very highly.

Lyric won’t work for everybody, but if you’ve got mild to moderately severe hearing loss and lead an active lifestyle, it may be an option for you.
